Green Gold Complex, Zagreb, Croatia
In brief. Two Thermax machines give the complex 1,230 kW of cooling in summer and 460 kW of heat in winter, with a 700 kW chiller on standby.
At the Green Gold complex in Zagreb, two 637 kW Jenbacher engines pass their exhaust and jacket heat to two Thermax absorption machines. In summer they give 1,230 kW of cooling, in winter 230 kW of heat each. A 700 kW compressor chiller was installed as backup.
What does the project consist of?
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Sector | Commercial complex and hotel |
| Engines | 2 GE Jenbacher engines, 637 kW each |
| Fuel | Natural gas |
| Heat for the machine | Exhaust and jacket |
| Machine and cooling | 2 machines of 175 TR each, 1,230 kW (350 TR) of cooling and 460 kW of heat in total |
| What the cooling is for | Air conditioning in summer, heating in winter |
Why is this example useful for a Russian site?
A 700 kW backup chiller against 1,230 kW of absorption cooling: about 57 % of the cooling remains if the engines stop. The backup is sized from the share of cooling the site cannot afford to lose; full duplication is not always needed. More: trigeneration for business centers and hotels.
How does this kind of scheme work?
The Thermax machine carries the base load, and the compressor chiller stands next to it as backup.
